Curried Pork With Rice Recipe from Edwardian 1909.
Remove the skin and trim off the fat from two pounds and a half of pork; cut into stripes and fry in a tablespoonful of butter until it begins to brown; then add two chopped onions, a tablespoonful of curry powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Pour in two cupfuls of cold water and bring to the boiling-point, then simmer for an hour. Remove the meat to a hot serving-dish, thicken the gravy with a teaspoonful of flour rubbed to a cream with the same quantity of butter. Surround the meat with a boarder of well-boiled rice, and pour the curry sauce over the meat only.
Cornish Pasties Recipe 1909 Edwardian.
Procure some nice lean beef, and mince it as finely as possible, add to this some finely chopped onions, and season with pepper and salt. Place the whole lot of ingredients on a dish and well moisten with good, rich stock. Have same good pastry, and line some greased patty-pans with a thin layer. Fill the patty-pan with meat, and cover with a layer of pastry. Brush the top over with egg, and bake in a quick oven.
Place layers of cooked macaroni and cooked onions in a buttered dish,filling in with cream sauce. Bake for twenty minutes in a hot oven. Serve with tomato sauce, to which add stuffed olives and grated cheese.
Slice two pounds of green tomatoes and two large onions, sprinkle over them a tablespoonful of salt and enough water to cover them, and let stand all night. In the morning drain and boil for twenty minutes in half a pint of vinegar and one quart of water; drain again, and add two pounds of brown sugar, one teaspoonful of ground allspice, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, mustard, and a little cayenne. Boil for fifteen minutes in one pint of vinegar.

To take the smell of onions from knives
Get a piece of carrot and draw the knife through it two or three times.
Fry a pound of onions in some boiling fat until thoroughly brown, and a quarter of a pound of flour, then a pint of milk, Finely chop a pound of apples, and chop four eggs, and add curry to taste, Then add one once of desiccated cocoanut. Cook all together for one hour. Serve with boiled rice.
A Cheap Vegetarian Recipe.
Take one vegetable marrow, two large tomatoes one onion, one ounce of butter, pepper and salt. Slice the onion and tomatoes, and fry in butter. When done, put in the marrows, cut into dice, add a little water, pepper and salt, and stew till marrow is tender. Serve hot.
Macaroni Loaf Recipe.

Add two ounces of butter, fry until nice and brown, then half cover with stock.Put in oven, and cook for an hour and a half. Serve with brown gravy and horseradish sauce.
